Mediapro Studio, Chilevision sign copro pact

Spanish prodco The Mediapro Studio and WarnerMedia-owned Chilean network Chilevision have signed a coproduction agreement, with the first project set to be a culinary entertainment series.

Part of communications and media group Mediapro, The Mediapro Studio said the deal is part of its international expansion plans announced earlier this year.

The first project to be coproduced by The Mediapro Studio and Chilevision, part of WarnerMedia-owned Turner Latin America, is El Discipulo del Chef. The 24 episodes will be produced in collaboration with Spanish content creator Phileas Productions and will air in primetime.

According to The Mediapro Studio and Chilevision, El Discipulo del Chef sets itself apart from other cooking shows by taking “a much fresher and more daring approach to the culinary talent genre.”

The copro deal forms part of a five-year agreement struck between The Mediapro Studio and Turner Latin America earlier this year, under which the pair will invest €9m (US$10m) in the development and coproduction of multiplatform content for Latin America. Under the pact, the pair are already coproducing scripted soccer drama series Las Bravas FC.

“The alliance between The Mediapro Studio and Turner Latin America is an excellent opportunity to merge our expertise with their talent and thus contribute to the dissemination of innovative and quality content in Chile, confirming our desire to become leaders in terms of content production,” said Laura Fernández Espeso, TV director at The Mediapro Studio.
