The Prorom group is an established key player in feature film distribution across Central and Eastern Europe, constantly expanding its portfolio since 28 years, with local offices in Germany, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and The Netherlands. The group has long been maintaining a successful culture of „remote teams“ with members from different local offices collaborating in functional setups.
 
About the role:
Reporting to company’s Munich-based COO (Head of Acquisitions, Sales & Marketing), the Legal and Business Affairs Manager Acquisitions will play a very important role in the company’s movie acquisitions activities, being responsible for all contractual and administrative tasks related to it.
 
You will:
  • Support the COO during negotiations on new acquisitions (providing information on contract terms, price levels etc)
  • Negotiate acquisitions contracts in close coordination with COO (based on contract history, company’s policies)
  • Be entirely responsible for contract management (covering all internal and external administrative processes related to this task)
  • Manage all contract-related tasks during an acquisitions contract’s license term (handling notices of assignment, notices of delivery etc)
  • Enter all relevant data into company’s rights management system, keeping the information accurate and complete at all times
  • Report key contract data to company’s Finance, Theatrical and Servicing departments
  • Organize company’s participation in acquisitions markets (Berlinale EFM, Cannes Film Festival, TIFF, American Film Market)
  • Prepare post-market acquisitions overviews, inform all internal and external partners about key aspects of newly-acquired movies
  • Regularly check with Licensors on status of upcoming movies regarding production, release date, availability of materials etc
  • Maintain relationship with Prorom’s content suppliers on all levels (sales, legal, marketing)

Job Requirements:

You have:
  • A degree in law, business administration or film school
  • Substantial knowledge of the legal aspects of international licensing of audiovisual products
  • At least 3+ years experience in legal, acquisitions or sales department of a film distribution or production company, a broadcaster or a video-on-demand platform
  • Excellent command of English; knowledge of any Central/Eastern European language is a plus, but not a must
  • The ability to fully own your job, while at the same time working in cross-cultural/cross-functional and (partially) remote teams
  • A focus on setting and exceeding personal, team, and organisational goals
  • Excellent self organization skills and the ability to plan and prioritize your work in accordance with the department’s and company‘s goals
  • The ability to self-start and to actively fill your role very shortly after coming on board
