Ink Factory hires Raw creative director

The Ink Factory, the London- and LA-based prodco behind The Night Manager, has hired a Raw TV and former Film4 exec as creative director.

Katherine Butler is currently scripted creative director at UK indie Raw, which she joined in 2014, where she has worked in both the UK and US on productions such as Bart Layton’s second film, American Animals, and upcoming feature Dream Horse, starring Toni Collette and Damian Lewis.

Before working at Raw, Butler spent nine years at UK free-to-air movie network Film4, a sister channel to Channel 4. She joined Film4 in 2004 as head of development, before being promoted to senior commissioning exec in 2009 and deputy head of film in 2013.

While at Film4, Butler exec produced films including Bafta winners Tyrannosaur and The Imposter. In addition, she exec produced single drama Random for Channel 4, which also won a Bafta in 2012.

Butler will join The Ink Factory in 2020 where, in the newly created role of creative director, she will oversee the studio’s film and television slate globally.

As well as The Night Manager, The Ink Factory is behind series such as The Little Drummer Girl and the film Fighting with My Family.
