Icon hires BBC alum

UK factual producer Icon Films has hired a former series producer at the BBC as its head of specialist factual.

Jonny Young is joining the wildlife specialist having previously produced factual content for the BBC, Channel 4, Channel 5 and Discovery Channel.

While at the BBC he specialised in documentaries and natural history. He set up his own production company, Oblong Films, in 2010 and worked on The Naked Rambler for BBC1 and Britain’s Youngest Undertaker for BBC3, among others.

He will now report to Icon’s creative director Harry Marshall, tasked with creating a slate of programming for the UK and international market.

The company’s senior management team also includes MD Laura Marshall, commercial director Lucy Middelboe, head of factual Stephen McQuillan and director of production Andie Clare.

Icon is currently working on Nat Geo Wild’s Savage Kingdom wildlife series among other recent commissions.
