Hugh Grant joins HBO’s Kidman drama

Hugh Grant in A Very English Scandal

Hugh Grant has joined the cast of US cablenet HBO’s forthcoming series The Undoing, following the Hollywood actor’s TV drama debut in BBC/Amazon show A Very English Scandal.

Grant will star alongside Nicole Kidman in The Undoing, which revolves around a successful therapist whose perfect life is plunged into disarray after a violent death and her husband’s disappearance.

The series is an adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz’s novel You Should Have Known. It is being written by Big Little Lies creator and scribe David E Kelley, who serves as showrunner and exec producer alongside Big Little Lies star Kidman, through her Blossom Films shingle.

The third Big Little Lies alum involved in the new drama is exec producer Bruna Papandrea, through her label Made Up Stories. Kidman’s Blossom Films partner Per Saari will also exec produce.

The Undoing was first revealed earlier this year after HBO confirmed it was ordering a second season of Big Little Lies. The latter was a break-out hit for the network last year and won four awards at the 2018 Golden Globes.

Prior to A Very English Scandal, which saw Grant play real-life disgraced UK politician Jeremy Thorpe, the UK actor was best known for movies such as Four Weddings & a Funeral, Notting Hill, Bridget Jones’s Diary and Love Actually.
