Global lines up air crash drama copro

Corus Entertainment-owned Canadian network Global has ordered a six-part conspiracy drama series featuring an ensemble cast including Christopher Plummer, Archie Panjabi and Claire Forlani.

Departure follows the disappearance of a passenger plane over the Atlantic Ocean. An aviation investigator, played by Panjabi, is called in by her former boss and mentor (Plummer) to investigate.

The series will be coproduced by Canada’s Shaftesbury Films and Greenpoint Productions in the UK.

The drama, which will join Global’s schedule in 2019, was created by Vincent Shiao (Ransom) and developed by Shaftesbury in association with Corus Entertainment and Red Arrow Studios International.

It will be directed by TJ Scott (Orphan Black) with Malcolm MacRury (Saving Hope) serving as showrunner and will also feature Kris Holden-Ried, Rebecca Liddiard, Shazad Latif and Dougray Scott, among others.

Archie Panjabi

Departure is exec produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, MacRury, and Scott. Shiao is co-executive producer, while Patrick Cassavetti and Tina Grewal are producers. Julie Lacey serves as producer for Shaftesbury.

Chris Philip and Karine Martin are exec producers for Starlings Television, with Henrik Pabst and Carlo Dusi exec producing for Red Arrow Studios International.

Red Arrow Studios International will handle international sales, with Starlings Television co-financing and overseeing worldwide distribution.
