FYI returns to Arranged marriage

A+E Networks’ US lifestyle cablenet FYI is returning to the topic of arranged marriage for an original docuseries that will premiere next month.

Married at First Sight

Married at First Sight

Arranged (8×60’) will premiere on Tuesday April 14 at 22.15 ET and follows modern Americans from across the country whose cultural traditions include arranged marriage.

The show will focus on three couples from different backgrounds – Romani gypsy, southern Bible Belt and East Indian. The obs doc will follow the lead-up to the ceremony and the newlyweds’ lives afterwards.

Moxie Pictures is producing, with Dan Levinson and Sven Nilsson executive producing. Gena McCarthy and Toby Faulkner executive produce for the channel.

The commission follows the success of FYI’s reality series Married at First Sight, where couples had to get married at their first meeting and then decide whether to stay together after several months living as husband and wife. The ratings success of the show quickly spawned spin-off Married at First Sight: The First Year.

FYI launched in the US last summer, replacing A+E Networks’ Bio channel. It is run by Jana Bennett, the former president of BBC Worldwide Networks.
