FremantleMedia tries Hypnosis

MIPCOM: FremantleMedia has acquired the global format rights to Satisfaction’s entertainment format Stars Under Hypnosis.

Launching here in Cannes, the TV event format sees eight celebrities surrender themselves and their minds to undergo a series of hypnotic experiences.

The French version of the show, produced by Arthur for France’s TF1, features the hypnotist known as Messmer.

Guests are transported by Messmer’s voice and take part in tasks such as hypno-transportation, where the celebrity is moved to an unknown location and wakes to find themselves in a strange and awkward situation.

The show launched to 5.1 million viewers and outperformed its network share by 27% – 34% in the commercial target and 50% among younger adults, according to FremantleMedia, which now holds international rights excluding French-speaking territories.

In other news, the company’s production arm FremantleMedia France has acquired a new primetime format from Israel’s Armoza Formats called Flight 920.

The reality show is airing on French-language channel TVA in Canada and sees 20 singles travelling to nine exotic destinations together, earning their ticket to the next stop by participating in cultural challenges along the way. The winners of the challenges decide who stays and who goes.

The format is available as an 11×60’ series for primetime or 10×60’ for access prime and will be pitched to French broadcasters by FremantleMedia.
