Fox reloads Lethal Weapon, Star

Fox’s movie reboot Lethal Weapon

US network Fox has extended its TV reboot of Lethal Weapon and singing drama Star into second seasons.

Lethal Weapon was one of the most talked-about dramas at the LA Screenings in May last year and had its original 13-part first season run extended by a further five episodes.

The show is produced by Warner Bros Television in association with Lin Pictures and Good Session Production and has been acquired by broadcasters including the UK’s ITV.

Based on the hit movie franchise, Lethal Weapon sees Clayne Crawford (Rectify) and Damon Wayans Sr (My Wife & Kids) star in the roles made famous by Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. It’s sold by Warner Bros International Television Distribution.

Meanwhile, Star, which features rapper Dana Elaine Owens (aka Queen Latifah), secured a second season after reaching an average multi-platform audience in excess of seven-and-a-half million viewers.

The show follows three talented singers with ambitions of stardom and is produced by 20th Century Fox Television in association with Lee Daniels Entertainment.
