Fox gets Extra from Warner Bros

Fox Television Stations (FTS) in the US has acquired entertainment news show Extra from Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution for a number of its syndicated markets.

From fall 2019, FTS will air Extra in seven major domestic markets: New York, LA, Philadelphia, Dallas, San Francisco, Orlando and Charlotte. The series already airs on Fox’s owned-and-operated stations in Chicago, Washington D.C. and Detroit.

The magazine-style show features headlines and gossip from the entertainment industry, providing coverage of events and celebrities, and is anchored by Mario Lopez, Renee Bargh and Tanika Ray.

The deal was announced by Frank Cicha, senior VP of programming at FTS, and Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros Domestic Television Distribution.

FTS has picked up the show from NBC’s owned-and-operated channels, where it aired before its primetime scripted shows.
