Fashion Hero scores European deals

MIPTV: Three production companies in Europe have picked up the rights to Canadian format The Fashion Hero from Beauty World Search.

The original series, hosted by Brooke Hogan, was developed by Caroline Bernier, executive producer and the president of Beauty World Search, and is based on an online movement which challenges attitudes towards ‘beauty’ in the fashion industry.

Participants who would not be considered typical models compete to feature in international advertising campaigns for designers including Anna Scholz in London and Christopher Bates in Milan.

Polish producer Rochstar, which has previously made local versions of formats including The Voice and Top Model, has acquired the rights to remake the show in Poland and pitch it to local broadcasters.

In Belgium the format has been picked up by Butterfish Group, the Brussels-based prodco behind adaptations of Studio Glam’s The Decision and Studio Lambert’s Common Sense.

Boxfish TV, meanwhile, has taken the Spanish rights. The prodco is led by former Warner Bros execs Edi Walter and Mariano Tomiozzo and will now take a local version out to broadcasters.

The deals, announced today in Cannes, follow the news that Singapore-based distributor Bomanbridge Media has taken the 8×60’ finished tape to shop in the Asia-Pacific region. TLT will air the show in Venezuela.
