Ex-Netflix kids’ chief joins Moonbug

The former director of Netflix’s kids’ and family content has resurfaced at children’s producer and distributor Moonbug as head of the Americas.

Andy Yeatman

Andy Yeatman will lead Moonbug’s America-based business, focusing on growth and development in the US market.

It comes just over a year after Yeatman left the global streaming giant amid controversy over comments he was alleged to have made to one of the women who had accused The Ranch star Danny Masterson of rape.

Moonbug was co-founded by media veterans René Rechtman and John Robson. Previously known as Project ABC, the company acquired El Bebe Productions, the firm behind popular YouTube channel Little Baby Bum, in August, as revealed by C21.

Yeatman founded and led Netflix’s kids’ content department. Under his leadership, the streamer’s kids’ slate grew from just two originals in 2014 to 40 in 2017, including such shows as Alexa & Katie, Ask the Storybots and Trollhunter. He also acquired content and programming from more than 50 countries and managed original productions in 10 countries.

He will now be based in LA and will lead creative, production and commercial teams and identify future acquisitions for Moonbug as part of its expansion in North America.

Moonbug’s senior management team is made up of Rechtman as CEO, Robson as chief operating officer and Alfie Chubb as head of mergers and acquisitions. It has headquarters in London and LA.
