ESNA boosts unscripted team

Endemol Shine North America (ESNA) has appointed Michael Heyerman as senior VP of unscripted original series and Shyam Balsé as VP in the same department.

Heyerman was previously an executive producer at the company, a role he took up in October 2018.

Since joining the group, he has helped develop upcoming series Lego Masters for Fox and the relaunch of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition for HGTV.

Prior to this, Heyerman was showrunner on ESNA’s MasterChef Jr – Road to the Finale, before which he was part of NBC’s Brain Trust development team at Universal Television, where he helped launch original unscripted projects.

Credits also include serving as co-executive producer on The F Word at Fox and To Tell the Truth at ABC, and senior producer on NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

Balsé, meanwhile, has also been working on Lego Masters for Fox, having previously worked on various unscripted shows at other broadcasters and cablenets. In addition, Balsé has worked on Hollywood blockbuster films, as well as several independent films.

The news comes after parent company Endemol Shine Group made two hires in its creative networks division, following the departure of Lisa Perrin to ITV Studios.
