eOne fans flames of Fyre Fraud

Hulu’s Fyre Fraud comes from Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason

Producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has secured the distribution rights to streamer Hulu’s documentary about the notorious Fyre Festival.

eOne will shop Fyre Fraud around the world, following its bow last month. The show, which currently airs on US-based SVoD platform Hulu, tells the story of the failed music festival that cheated its punters and ended up with its creator in prison.

The documentary is an investigation into the event and its creator Billy McFarland, who has since been convicted of fraud. It features an exclusive interview with the disgraced entrepreneur himself, and is supported by a cast of whistle-blowers, victims and insiders.

Fyre Fraud comes from Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning directors Jenner Furst and Julia Willoughby Nason, who executive produced the doc along with Michael Gasparro, The Cinemart, MIC and Billboard.

Noel Hedges, eOne’s executive VP of acquisitions, international distribution, said the firm hoped to see the conversation that has followed the festival and the documentary “spread around the world.”

“As soon as it was launched, this brilliantly made film garnered huge critical acclaim for its quality execution and access to the key players and has instantly become widely talked about,” he added.
