Electus wraps Notorious B.I.G., 2pac deal

US distributor Electus International has acquired the international rights to forthcoming true-crime documentary Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?.

The 1×120’ special from producer Critical Content (The Case of JonBenét Ramsey), will delve into the complex case of the murders of two of hip-hops biggest stars – Tupac Shakur (2pac) and Christopher Wallace (The Notorious B.I.G.).

The bitter-rival rappers were shot dead just months apart in 1996 and in 1997. Fronted by rapper and actor Ice-T and journalist Soledad O’Brien, the show premeries on September 24 on Fox.

Critical Content’s Tom Forman is the producer, while David Metzler, Jon Beyer, Brad Bishop and Jorge Hinojosa will exec produce along with Ice-T and O’Brien.

Electus International, the distribution arm of LA-based multimedia studio Electus, has secured worldwide distribution rights and will be bringing the programme to Cannes next month as part of its Mipcom slate.

John Pollak, recently promoted to president of worldwide television and international at Electus, said the unsolved murders still retained immense public interest.

“We feel fans of both pop culture and true crime alike will be captivated by the star power and depth of investigation showcased,” he added.
