Dave preps Mel Giedroyc comedy

UKTV-owned comedy channel Dave is adding four originals to its 2020 slate, including a new comedy format fronted by Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off).

Expectation’s Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable

Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable (8×60’) sees the presenter and comedian invite celebrity guests to reveal sins they have committed that are so bad they should be declared ‘unforgivable.’

The series is produced by Tim Hincks and Peter Fincham’s BBC Studios-backed UK prodco Expectation. Exec producing are Ben Wicks for Expectation and Hilary Rosen for UKTV.

Second is the return of World’s Most Dangerous Roads, which first aired on BBC2 from 2011 to 2013. Relaunching on Dave, the 8×60’ series will follow pairs of comedians as they set off on road trips around the world.

The original BBC2 version comprised three seasons of three episodes. BBC Studios will distribute the reboot, which is produced by Renegade Pictures. Harry Lansdown and Natalie Wilkinson are exec producing.

Theoretical comedy series Hypothetical is returning for a third run. S2 of the show, which is presented by Josh Widdicombe and James Acaster, launched on Dave this week and the third 8×60’ season is set for later this year.

Hat Trick Productions produces the series, with Iain Coyle exec producing for UKTV and Stu Mather for Hat Trick.

Lastly, Comedians Giving Lectures is returning to Dave for two new 6×40’ seasons. Hosted by Sara Pascoe, the show is produced by ITV-owned 12 Yard Productions, with Michael Mannes and Paul McGettigan exec producing. ITV Studios handles international distribution.
