Dave, BBC Earth discover Exploration Volcano

Exploration Volcano is fronted by volcanologist Christopher Horsley

BBC Earth and multichannel operator UKTV have commissioned an unscripted action-adventure series about volcanoes from Brighton-based Back2Back Productions.

Set to air on BBC Earth and UKTV entertainment channel Dave next year, Exploration Volcano (working title) is an 8×60’ series exploring the earth’s most active lava volcanoes.

Presented by volcanologist Christopher Horsley, the series is currently in pre-production ahead of filming in early 2021. Local teams are on the ground at volcanoes across the globe, including in Nicaragua, Ethiopia and the Philippines.

Adventure filmmaker Caroline Menzies is series producer, with Hat Trick International holding international sales rights to the show.

In related news, Discovery-owned factual and entertainment channel Quest has renewed Back2Back’s Scrap Kings for fourth and fifth seasons, while Discovery lifestyle channel Really has commissioned a second season of Back2Back paranormal series Unexplained: Caught on Camera.
