Content Group adds Outpost alum

LA-based collective The Content Group (TCG) has appointed the former president of ITV-owned Outpost Entertainment to head the group and revamped its corporate structure.

Jodi Flynn

Jodi Flynn takes up the role of president at TCG having worked on shows including Forged in Fire for US cabler History. Before that she was exec VP of development and programming at Cineflix Productions.

TCG, launched last year by producer Steve Michaels, claims to offer producers a faster route to market with more collaboration with talent and other members of the production industry.

The company says its model is based on a scheme that offers partners short- and long-term returns.

Michaels has also rejigged TCG’s corporate structure by forming new parent company Asylum Entertainment Group, which will now house TCG.

Ryann Lauckner

Ryann Lauckner, who was previously president of TCG, has been upped to president and chief strategy officer at Asylum Entertainment Group.

Michaels said: “Both Jodi and Ryann bring singular production and management expertise, as well as maverick points of view, to the process of creating a content ecosystem. I could not be prouder of this leadership team as we begin to share more of our vision and work alongside the best creative partners in the business.”

TCG also houses production label Asylum Entertainment, originally founded by Michaels in 2003 and sold to Legendary in 2014, with Michaels becoming sole owner again in 2018.

Steve Michaels

Flynn and Lauckner each report to Michaels, who has said projects from TCG and Asylum Entertainment Group will be revealed in the coming months.

TCG has also disclose some details of its business model, saying it will offer each partner competitive splits on fees and backend and a bonus of US$50,000 each time a partner hits a revenue or profit marker.

TCG added that it “is committing to its partners 30% of net profits from a future sale and/or major transaction.”
