Comic-book author drawn to UCP

US-based Universal Cable Productions (UCP) has struck an overall deal with comic-book writer Grant Morrison, with a first project already in the works.

Morrison, who has worked on DC comics including Batman and Justice League, will develop and produce original content for streamers and linear networks with UCP. He is also behind Arkham Asylum, one of the US’s most popular graphic novels.

The first project under the pact will be an adaptation of his comic book The Invisibles, although no broadcaster or streamer is yet attached.

The story is set in 2020 and follows a group of freedom fighters who attempt to make the world a better place regardless of the consequences.

UCP, which has shows including Happy for Syfy, already has deals with talent including Mr Robot’s Sam Esmail, Nic Antosca (Channel Zero) and Steve Blackman (The Umbrella Academy).
