The deal follows a series of collaborations between the two companies on the financing and distribution of several blue-chip documentaries, such as upcoming ITV and Smithsonian Channel special The Day We Walked on the Moon.

Cineflix has so far licensed the show, which marks the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, to buyers including Seven Network (Australia), Medialaan (Belgium), DRTV (Denmark), Mediaset’s Focus (Italy), Sky New Zealand, NRK (Norway), Nelonen (Finland), NHK (Japan) and TV4 (Sweden).

Others that have picked up the doc include RTVE in Spain; NC+ Poland’s Planete+ channel; Czech TV; AMC Networks International Central and Northern Europe for its Spektrum Channels in Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic; Mediawan Thematics France for Toute L’Histoire; Manoto in Iran; and Discovery Asia.

Cineflix also currently holds distribution rights to Finestripe docs Diana: The Day The World Cried (ITV/Smithsonian), Inside Dior (Channel 4), The Day Kennedy Died (ITV/Smithsonian), Whizz Kids: On The Fast Track to F1 (Channel 4) and The Day Hitler Died (ITV/Smithsonian).

“Broadening and deepening our relationships with producer partners through a range of financing options means we can provide them with the funding and expertise to get their shows greenlit, while at the same time adding outstanding content to the Cineflix Rights catalogue for our global buyers,” said Richard Life, head of acquisitions at Cineflix.
