BBC3, Showtime pair for more Back to Life

US premium cablenet Showtime and UK-based online channel BBC3 have renewed comedy drama Back To Life for a second season.

The coproduction between the two networks will return for a 6×30’ second run, produced by Two Brothers Pictures (Fleabag) in association with All3Media.

The show was created by and stars Daisy Haggard (Black Mirror, Uncle) and is co-written by Haggard and Perrier award winner Laura Solon (Office Christmas Party).

The first season debuted on BBC3 in April 2019 and followed a woman’s return to her seaside family home, having spent 18 years in prison for a crime committed during her formative years. Showtime acquired the first run over the summer and is currently airing it in the US.

Season two has been commissioned by Shane Allen, controller of comedy commissioning, Fiona Campbell, controller for BBC Three, and by Gary Levine and Jana Winograde, presidents of entertainment at Showtime Networks.
