BBC2 welcomes The Arrival

BBC2 in the UK has ordered a primetime series from the producers of Channel 4’s 24 Hours in A&E that explores how newborn babies change family life.

The Arrival (4×60′, working title) is being produced by UK-based The Garden Productions and aims to capture every moment in the weeks immediately following birth to explore how families live.

The show will use traditional filming and fixed-rig cameras to capture the story of parenting a newborn and was described by commissioning editor Emma Loach as “a revealing and heart-warming new series.”

Jessie Versluys is the executive producer, while the series director is Barnaby Peel (Last Chance Lawyer) and the series producer is Gemma Brady (24 Hours In A &E). The series was commissioned by Patrick Holland, controller at BBC2, and Clare Sillery, head of commissioning for documentaries, alongside Loach.
