BBC Studios partners Korea’s Channel A

The production, distribution and commercial arm of UK pubcaster the BBC is partnering with South Korean cable network Channel A on programme development.

BBC Studios and Channel A, which airs news, entertainment and drama, signed a memorandum of understanding in Seoul today.

The deal focuses on content collaboration, the continuous exchange of knowledge and business development opportunities between the two companies, and also establishes a partnership to explore coproduction opportunities in South Korea.

In addition, the pact covers the acquisition of BBC Studios content by Channel A, which is already set to air a slate of BBC Studios’ documentaries from September.

Geo Lee, senior VP and general managaer of BBC Studios North-East Asia, said: “This is the time we need to cooperate in order to deal with the fast-changing media environment. We are looking forward to the co-existence through partnerships with Channel A.”
