BBC Christie adaptation goes global

International broadcasters including BBC First, Canal+ in France and the ABC in Australia have picked up mystery drama Ordeal by Innocence, based on an Agatha Christie novel.

Ordeal by Innocence finally aired on April 1 to high ratings

The 4×52’ miniseries is adapted from Christie’s book by Sarah Phelps and directed by Sandra Goldbacher.

BBC Studios has taken rights for its BBC First channels in the Middle East, Africa and Benelux.

The drama has also been sold into Scandinavia and will air on TV4 in Sweden, TV2 in Norway and MTV3 in Finland.

Endeavor Content, the scripted television and feature film financing, development and sales division of Endeavor, is handling distribution.

The drama stars Bill Nighy, Anthony Boyle, Anna Chancellor, Morven Christie, Crystal Clarke, Christian Cooke, Alice Eve, Matthew Goode, Ella Purnell, Eleanor Tomlinson and Luke Treadaway.

The airing of the miniseries was put on hold last year due to sexual assault allegations made again one of its actors, Ed Westwick.

Scenes were re-shot with Cooke replacing Westwick and the mini premiered on BBC1 on Sunday April 1 to high ratings.
