AMC takes RTÉ lifestyle shows

Appetite Media’s Donal’s Meals in Minutes

AMC Networks International (AMCNI) has picked up a package of home renovation, design and cookery content from Irish pubcaster RTÉ for its channels in Central Europe.

The package deal with AMCNI is for its Spektrum Home channel, which airs in Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

It includes two home-renovation series fronted by TV architect Dermot Bannon. In Incredible Homes (6×60’), Bannon visits unusual living spaces in the world’s coolest capitals, while Room to Improve (46×52’) sees him apply his creativity to an array of properties. Both series were produced by CoCo Content for RTÉ.

Also included are the first two series of Design Doctors (12×25’), produced by Animo TV Production for RTÉ. The show follows top designers Aoife Rhattigan and Garry Cohn as they help ordinary homeowners do up their properties on a budget.

On the culinary front, AMCNI has picked up Donal’s Meals in Minutes (17×30′), produced by Appetite Media, for its cooking channel TV Paprika in Hungary, Czech Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania and Moldova.

In addition, Polish commercial broadcaster Polsat has acquired RTÉ’s My Trans Life (2×60’), produced by Zucca Films and That’s A Wrap TV. The doc follows five young transgender people following Ireland’s ground-breaking decision in 2015 to allow its citizens to change their legal gender based on self-identification alone.

Finally, UR Broadcasting in Sweden has acquired the Vitamin Sea, a 60-minute doc that follows eight people who are all passionate about the oceans. It looks at how the sea is helping them deal with grief, manage mental and physical health concerns, or just giving them a chance to hit the reset button.
