AMC goes Orange in France

AMC Networks International (AMCNI) has launched Sundance Channel Global in France after signing an agreement with Orange TV.

The linear network broadcasts exclusive indie movies and docs as well as original drama series such as Rectify, The Red Road, The Walking Dead and Mad Men. It started airing on October 8 as part of Orange’s Cinema and Series TV package.

Bruce Tuchman, president of AMC and Sundance Channel Global, said: “AMC Networks International has experienced record-breaking growth with new distribution agreements on television platforms around the world and we’re looking forward to working closely with Orange to deliver original dramatic series as well as the best in independent cinema.”

US-based AMC Networks launched its flagship channel outside of North America for the first time last year, with local versions of the cablenet available on cable and satellite platforms across Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East, accompanied by VoD, HD and TV Everywhere services.

The channel is led by flagship series Fear The Walking Dead, which pulled 10.1 million viewers for its first season finale in the US last week. It has averaged 11.2 million viewers overall, a US cable record.
