Ace deal takes Ten to a new Galaxy

Network Ten in Australia has picked up domestic prodco Galaxy Pop’s first fully animated kids’ series Get Ace.

The series, which follows the adventures of a 12-year old nerd, was created by Galaxy Pop duo Dina McPherson and Gian Christian.

Developed with the assistance of Screen Australia and Film Victoria, Get Ace will have its international debut at Mipcom.

Network Ten’s Cherrie Bottger commissioned the 26-episode series, marking the second such deal between the two companies. Galaxy Pop produced live action preschool series Rock It! for the net in 2007.

With a budget of more than AUD$10 million ($9.55 million) for the series, Get Ace is reportedly one of the most expensive children’s animated series ever produced in Australia.

It is set to debut on Network Ten towards the end of 2012.
