20th Television’s Singh signs for Disney

Disney Branded Television in the US has hired a 20th Television exec in the newly created role of senior VP of development and current series.

Reena Singh will lead the live-action development and current series teams at Disney Branded Television to develop and deliver original scripted series for streamer Disney+ and Disney linear platforms.

She joins from 20th Television, where she was senior VP of current programming. Prior to that, Singh was VP of development and current programming for USA Network and VP of Universal Cable Productions.

She previously worked for the Disney group 11 years ago as director of development for Disney Channels, during which time she worked on High School Musical 2, Jump In! and Camp Rock.

Before that, Singh was an entertainment associate at ABC Entertainment, having crossed over to entertainment from a career in news reporting. At ABC News, she was a producer for World News Tonight with Peter Jennings, Good Morning America, Nightline and Primetime.

Singh is now a member of Disney’s Creative Inclusion Council, which creates new content practices for inclusive storytelling. She is also a board member for Colour Entertainment, an organisation dedicated to maximising the potential of diverse executives, and the co-head of Salon’s South Asian mentorship programme, which identifies and cultivates the next generation of South Asian creative executives and artists.

Singh was previously a board member for the South Asian Women in Entertainment and is an alumna of the National Association for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications’ executive leadership development programme.
