This role will report directly to the VP, International Format Production & Development and work with the SVP of Format Sales & Production.  This position will primarily supervise the development and global production of original and international versions of NBCUniversal owned and/or distributed unscripted formats keeping in sight the quality standards of NBCUniversal and its stakeholders. 
 
Production:
  • Oversee and provide meaningful consultation on local productions of NBCUniversal International owned and/ or distributed non-scripted formats in an Producer and/or Executive Producer capacity (dependant on title and territory) to ensure the format adaptations are produced to the highest standard to maximise the likelihood of re-commissions within each territory and to grow an international brand.
  • Serve as first point of contact, providing creative direction from pre-production through to post-production, ensuring producers have all support materials (bibles, budgets, schedules etc).  Managing all approval and consultation rights on local productions including; casting, schedules, production structure, locations, sets and format adaptations.  Provide notes and guide editorial on episodes prior to transmission. 
  • Manage and communicate the flow of information, materials, dates, schedules etc. to VP, International Format Production & Development and the wider Format Sales team.
  • Liaise with sales team, international broadcaster and/or production company to provide integration ideas and supervise integration execution on set, in particular sponsorship, product placement and on-set branding. 
  • Create and run an easily accessible communications network that ensures the maximum creativity and ideas flow between production partners, NBCUIS production companies and stakeholders, and help to develop ideas, adaptations and extensions for existing and upcoming formats.
  • Work alongside the wider sales team to increase and improve the format sales executives’ knowledge and approach to pitching formats to senior decision makers at broadcasters and production companies.
  • Help format sales teams on the pitching or preparation of pitching of individual formats as appropriate, either in markets or in territories, feeding any development requirements back to the relevant parties.
  • Oversee and manage the process of creating sales materials for existing and upcoming formats such as promotional reels and sizzles.
  • Be reactive to and in touch with new trends, ideas and format proposals informing the right teams swiftly to any opportunities.
  • Regular global travel – an estimated 2 weeks in every month. 

Development:
  • International Co-Development Deals:  Identify and approach suitable partners within the international market for potential co-development opportunities. Oversee the development process between the international broadcaster and NBCUIS internal development teams.  Assist in all areas of the international rollout of the created IP, from launch, pitch through to production.
  • Third Party Acquisitions: identify trends, field pitches, and help establish the strategic development goals for third party format acquisitions of unscripted content.
  • Production Hubs: Manage the strategic preparation, planning and execution of NBCUIS co-production hubs internationally for select non-scripted titles in an Executive Producer capacity.
  • Work with the VP, International Format Production & Development and SVP, Format Sales & Production on creating a strategy to grow the international format production business including; creating targets, growing the IP pipeline and generating new sources of potential revenue.

Job Requirements:

The ideal candidate will also possess the following attributes:
  • Proven experience in non-scripted television development & production at Senior Producer or Producer level, with a distinct focus on entertainment and factual-entertainment formats in studio or on location.
  • Proven international media industry experience with experience of consulting on global formats.
  • A solid and proven understanding of the television process from development to commission and through to transmission.
  • In-depth post production and production management knowledge including experience with budgeting and logistics.
  • Strong communication skills in order to build relationships with key creative teams on productions including Commissioners, Network Executives, Executive Producers, Producers, Heads of Production etc.
  • Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Strong creative skills including; proven ability to recognise the strengths and weaknesses of creative materials, knowledge of formats and productions in line with NBCU IP and integrity, creative & aesthetics approval experience and overall production design approval knowledge.
  • Assertive, enthusiastic and highly motivated self-starter. 
  • Excellent presentation skills and writing abilities.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills and a methodical approach to your daily changing schedule.
  • The ability to speak to large groups of people.
  • The ability to remain calm and be pragmatic in a high-pressure environment.
  • Foreign languages are a plus but not essential.
