Zodiak Kids turns on vlogging series

Zodiak Kids Studios (ZKS) has signed a development and production deal for a new scripted series about teen vloggers created by author Ingrid Selberg.

Girls Can Vlog will go into development with ZKS following the deal between Ingrid Selberg Consulting and Emma Young, who co-developed the series alongside Selbery.

Aimed at aspiring young vloggers, the project focuses on four friends who launch their own YouTube channel where they document their lives online.

Selberg is the former MD of publishing company Simon and Schuster UK, while Young has worked as a fiction editor for 12 years at companies such as Macmillan Children’s Books.

A four-book deal is already in place with Macmillan Children’s Books and the first book in the series, Lucy Locket: Online Disaster, was published earlier this year.

“These realistic but funny stories about ordinary YouTube fans, not celebs, taking control and vlogging themselves have resonated with readers round the world,” said Selberg.

Jean-Philippe Randisi, CEO, Zodiak Kids, said: “We strongly believe the premise of Girls Can Vlog will resonate with kids’ and teens’ lives in a digital world.” Zodiak Kids will own worldwide television distribution rights to Girls Can Vlog.
