Zodiak Kids links with Tulipop creators

Tulipop was pitched at Cartoon Forum last year

Banijay Group’s Zodiak Kids has boarded the animated children’s series based on Icelandic lifestyle brand Tulipop.

Zodiak Kids will start working with the creators of Tulipop this summer on co-development of the animated series, which was pitched at Cartoon Forum last year.

Tulipop first appeared as a design brand in 2010 and has grown to cover a range of products including toys, collectables, puzzles, apparel and other merchandise. The company that owns the brand, also called Tulipop, was founded by Icelandic illustrator Signy Kolbeinsdottir and marketing expert Helga Arnadottir.

The brand currently has a YouTube channel which is home to 10×2’30” English-language webisodes that have also been dubbed into Icelandic to air on the country’s pubcaster RUV. A second seasons of webisodes is currently in production for launch later this year.

Jean-Philippe Randisi, CEO of Zodiak Kids, said: “We believe Tulipop’s modern yet sensitive values and its deep connection to nature and heritage will truly resonate with kids and tweens of tomorrow globally.”

Zodiak Kids will hold the worldwide audiovisual distribution rights, excluding the Nordic territories, to the coproduced animated series. Tulipop retains distribution rights in the Nordics alongside the global licensing and merchandising rights to the brand.
