The 26×22′ show is targeted at 6-11s and is based on the books written by Adam Blade and owned by Coolabi.

Sea Quest is a spin-off from the Beast Quest book franchise, which has sold more than 15 million copies worldwide in over 30 territories, according to Zodiak.

The television series follows 12-year-old Max and his friend Lia, a member of a legendary race of undersea beings, as they race against time to save Max’s father and stop an evil professor.

The two companies have brought UK animation studio Factory on board to produce the first animation concepts to be showcased next week at Mipcom.

Michael Carrington, CEO of Zodiak Kids Studios since its launch in April, said: “There’s a wealth of material in the franchise that will make brilliant story arcs for television and which will engage with audiences who are crying out for new adventure-driven shows.”
