Zee TV hires Zodiak alum

Indian media group Zee Entertainment Enterprises has brought in a former Zodiak Rights exec to handle syndication of its Zee TV channel in The Americas.

Sarah Coursey will lead Zee TV’s syndication sales operation for North America, Latin America and Canada as head of syndication sales for the Americas.

She previously held executive roles at Australian news platform Newzulu, Zodiak Rights, MEG and Distraction Formats, specialising in format sales and acquisitions.

“As Zee TV expands around the world, we are confident that Sarah will help tremendously to increase our footprint in the region,” said Sunita Uchil, head of global syndication at Zee Entertainment Enterprises.

Coursey was head of format sales and acquisitions at Zodiak Rights between 2007 and 2009. Her most recent role was VP of global sales at Newzulu, revealed by C21 at MipTV 2015.

The exec, who also had a stint at Germany’s Telcast International, is the creator of Love at First Bite, a show which aired on Discovery Italy’s Real Time channel in 2013 as Ti Prendo per la Gola.

In related news, Zee Tamil will produce third and fourth seasons of family gameshow format DNA following a deal with Singapore-based distributor Bomanbridge Media.

Regional general entertainment channel Zee Tamil will produce a total of 52 more episodes of the show, in which a contestent has to match parents with their children standing on opposite sides of the studio while completing challenges.
