ZDFE to co-develop with True To Nature

UK prodco True To Nature has entered into a co-development partnership with ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE), the commercial arm of German pubcaster ZDF.

True To Nature was set up in Bristol by Wendy Darke, former head of the BBC’s Natural History Unit, in 2016.

ZDFE’s factual division is run by ZDFE unscripted VP Ralf Rückauer, and the companies are currently working on a number of projects together.

The first to go into production is Volcano 24 (1×60’), a copro with ZDF and Thirteen Productions in the US for PBS Nature and Arte.

The show follows a day in the life of the people and animals that live alongside Earth’s active volcanoes, visiting places such as Hawaii, the US and Europe.

ZDFE recently merged its factual and entertainment departments into one unscripted unit. ZDF.unscripted is directed by Rückauer, with Sylvia Brucker responsible for entertainment.
