ZDF, Viasat World study Murder Maps

Murder Maps is distributed by the UK’s 3DD

ZDF in Germany and Viasat World have picked up a true crime series originally produced for UKTV, Foxtel in Australia and global streaming giant Netflix.

Murder Maps, produced and distributed by the UK’s 3DD, has recorded several pre-sales ahead of its launch at Cannes market Mipcom next month.

ZDF-Info will air the series in Germany, APT will show it in the US, and Viasat World will air it in Scandinavia, Africa and CEE.

Now in its third season, drama-doc Murder Maps examines some of London’s most grisly murderers including The Blackout Killer and Dr Crippen, through re-enactment, interviews with experts and archive footage.

The latest 4×60’ season, which includes an episode on Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be hanged in the UK, has completed and will air in the UK in October and worldwide from November.

Patricia Hickey, head of sales and coproduction at 3DD, said she was looking forward to “expanding even further into new territories during Mipcom and in the coming months.”

3DD will also be looking to secure coproductions and presales for its new slate, which features Game of Kings: The Stuarts, a Bloody Reign (4×60’), another UKTV copro, and Myths and Monsters (6×60’), which has pre-sold to Netflix.
