ZDF renews Ku’damm for third run

UFA Fiction’s Ku’damm 56 aired in 2016

German broadcaster ZDF has launched a follow-up to its successful drama miniseries Ku’damm.

Ku’damm 63 (working title) is another three-part series that will follow the story of Caterina Schöllack (Claudia Michelsen) and her three daughters navigating life in Berlin after the end of the Second World War.

Fremantle-owned prodco UFA Fiction will again produce the series under the leadership of producers Nico Hofmann and Benjamin Benedict.

The first two instalments were Ku’damm 56, which aired in 2016 and its sequel Ku’damm 59, which attracted millions of viewers globally in 2018.

“Ku’damm 56 and 59 showed what it was like to live in Germany as a woman not so very long ago. The exciting and entertaining family saga brings all generations and genders to the screen,” said Fred Burcksen, president and CEO of distributor ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE).

ZDFE will again be responsible for global distribution which sold the first two Ku’damm series to 30 countries across Asia, Australia, Africa, the Americas and Europe.
