ZDF finds US ballet partner in Hulu

Find Me in Paris comes from Cottonwood Media

US streamer Hulu has acquired the exclusive streaming rights to a forthcoming opera-themed time-travel drama series for tweens from German network ZDF.

Find Me in Paris, which has a budget of €11m (US$11.74m) and was formerly known as Paris Opera, will stream on Hulu exclusively in the US following the deal.

It is produced by Paris-based Cottonwood Media along with ZDF and ZDF Enterprises (ZDFE) in Germany, with Federation Kids & Family and ZDFE handling international distribution.

The live-action series follows a young dancer and princess who, poised to become the next young star of the ballet world in 1905, is sent into the 21st century after wearing a magical necklace.

The show is being produced on location in Paris and at the Garnier Opera House, with showrunners Jill Girling and Lori Matter Welch attached.

It comes after ABC in Australia, Disney Channel in France and Italy, France Télévisions and VRT Belgium acquired the series earlier this year.

“We have been very successful with our teenage live action series on international VoD services, also with dance and ballet-related productions, such as Dance Academy. Therefore we are convinced that Find Me in Paris will enjoy the same popularity with Hulu’s audiences,” said Arne Lohmann, VP ZDFE.junior at ZDFE.
