YouTube makes Savvy move

We Are Savvy is made by B-Minor Productions

YouTube has picked up a tween-targeted half-hour magazine-style series for its subscription service, featuring segments about music, fashion, dance and DIY.

We Are Savvy will be available via YouTube Red and explores topics ranging from handy DIY tips and life hacks to peer profiles and celebrity interviews.

The show’s first season (20×22′) was originally commissioned by DHX Media’s Family Channel Canada and licensed to YouTube Red, with the 13×22′ second run now in production.

It will premiere on YouTube Red this fall in all territories where the service is available and is again being produced by B Minors Productions, a division of Banger Films. DHX distributes globally.

Josh Scherba, exec VP of distribution and content at DHX Media, said the show “has a fresh, positive energy and a lively magazine format that makes it a perfect fit for YouTube Red and its audience.”

Subscription service YouTube Red was first unveiled by YouTube back in 2015 and has been expanding its original programming slate recently, including a spin-off from cult 1980s movie Karate Kid.
