Young Sheldon grows on CBS

Young Sheldon

US broadcast network CBS has renewed The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon for a further two seasons following the success of its first two runs.

The comedy debuted in 2017 and, like its parent series, is created by Chuck Lorre and showrunner Steve Molaro. It focuses on the younger years of The Big Bang Theory’s eccentric character Sheldon Cooper, played by Jim Parsons.

Parsons narrates Young Sheldon and is also exec producer on the series. Molaro, Lorre and Todd Spiewak exec produce for Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros Television.

The sophomore comedy is the second most watched comedy on CBS, according to the network, beaten only by The Big Bang Theory.

“Young Sheldon has been a powerful performer for the network with an audience that towers over most of the television landscape,” said Kelly Kahl, president of CBS Entertainment.
