Xilam’s Moka makes K2 journey

Rolling with the Ronks sees an alien travel to prehistoric earth

Cartoon Forum hit Moka and fellow animation Rolling with the Ronks are among a number of new series that have been picked up by Discovery Italy kids’ channel K2.

Produced by French outfit Xilam Animation, the shows join new properties Paprika and Mr Magoo as part of a new 200-hour licensing deal between Xilam and K2 for preschool and kids’ content.

Along with these series, K2 has renewed the exclusive free TV rights to Xilam’s established properties such as Oggy & the Cockroaches, The Daltons and Zig & Sharko.

Preschool animation Moka was one of the most attended pitches at last month’s Cartoon Forum, which was dominated by French firms.

The deal with K2 has added to Xilam’s increasing presence across Europe, with sustained airtime on networks such as Super RTL and Disney Channel in Germany, RTBF and VRT in Benelux and local channel Gulli. Season five of Oggy & the Cockroaches (78×7’) is Gulli’s top-ranked show.

“Italy is increasingly becoming one of our key territories for distribution growth and these deals further boost the presence of our brands,” said Mark du Pontavice, Xilam’s founder and president. “These newest deals further underscore our position as the go-to distributor for kids’ content with proven global appeal.”
