X-Files scribe offers Ransom

MIPCOM: Canadian broadcaster Shaw Media and TF1 in France have teamed up with Entertainment One Television to develop and produce a drama from The X-Files writer Frank Spotnitz.

Ransom is based on the work of real-life crisis negotiator Laurent Combalbert and was co-created by Spotnitz and David Vainola, who will also serve as executive producer.

It will be produced by Jennifer Kawaja and Julia Sereny via their company Sienna Films, with Wild Cat Productions and Big Light Productions, the latter founded by Spotnitz.

The story follows the private negotiator who travels the world with his team, including a computer hacker and therapist, to defuse crises.
