The Rookie was renewed for a third season by ABC

Norwegian broadcaster TV2 and Japanese pay TV channel Wowow have both picked up US police drama series The Rookie.

The series, recently renewed for a third season by US broadcast network ABC, follows the oldest rookie in the LAPD, who uses his life experience, determination and sense of humour to keep up with colleagues 20 years his junior.

The show is a copro between transatlantic producer and distributor Entertainment One (eOne) and ABC Studios and is written by Alexi Hawley, who exec produces alongside Mark Gordon, Nathan Fillion, Michelle Chapman, Jon Steinberg, Bill Norcross and Terence Paul Winter.

The sales into Norway and Japan, secured by eOne, bring the number of territories to have picked up the series to 180.

Stuart Baxter, president, international distribution at eOne, said: “As our industry navigates the current climate together, we are working even closer with our distribution partners all around the world to ensure they have the content they need, so that their schedules remain full and their audiences entertained during these unsettling times.”
