WonderWorld VR, the fledgling start-up founded by ex-Shine Nordics exec Simon Romanus, is preparing what it claims is the first full-length virtual reality concert.

The VR-focused prodco has filmed a selection of concerts from pop group A-Ha in VR and will offer viewers the chance to watch via an app.

“It is a truly immersive experience to stand on the stage right beside lead singer Morten Harket and keyboardist Magne Furuholmen as if you are part of the band,” said Simon Romanus, founder of WonderWorld VR.

Romanus produced, edited and is now distributing the VR content, which is available on Android or iPhone devices, as well as on YouTube in 360 or VR.

Furuholmen said: “We are delighted to present the world’s first recorded full-length VR-concert from one band. We have tested the result and the feeling of standing on scene with ourselves was quite surreal. This technology will allow people to share an experience of live music in new and innovative ways.”

The start-up was founded last year by Romanus, the former head of programming at Shine Group’s Friday TV.

Last week US-based VR firm Jaunt Studios revealed a series about former Beatle Sir Paul McCartney.

Pure McCartney VR is a six-part VR show made up of documentary shorts that explore the singer’s life and music.
