WME-IMG grabs Killing Eve rights

Talent-management and sales outfit WME-IMG has secured international distribution rights to BBC America’s forthcoming eight-part thriller Killing Eve.

The show is being produced by UK-based Sid Gentle Films and is based on the Villanelle novellas by Luke Jennings. Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) is lead writer and will executive produce with Sid Gentle founder Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris.

The show follows two fiercely intelligent women – a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down – and is set to debut on BBC America in 2018, joining the broadcaster’s other originals such as Fever.

Chris Rice, WME-IMG partner, said: “Sid Gentle is an incredible partner and we look forward to working with them to bring Killing Eve to audiences around the world.”

IMG has been ramping up its distribution activity over the past 18 months, following its success with BBC/AMC hit series The Night Manager. In April, Agatha Christie Productions appointed the company as the international distributor for its forthcoming slate of dramas adapted from the celebrated author’s works.
