Winx fairies fly to South Africa

A broadcaster in South Africa has acquired episodes of the CGI animated series Winx Club from Italian producer and distributor Rainbow.

Winx Club has aired on Rai in Italy since 2004

ETV in South Africa will air the fifth and sixth seasons of the long-running show, which follows the adventures of a group of young fairies.

Rainbow originally produced seven seasons of Winx Club for Italian pubcaster Rai, which has aired the series since 2004, and US kids channel Nickelodeon, which began showing it in 2011.

The Italian studio is now working with Netflix on a spin-off animated series titled Winx Club WOW: World of Winx, which is due to arrive on the streaming service early next year.
