Windfall Films shuffles senior staff

Windfall team (L-R) Dan Kendall, Allison Todd, Carlo Massarella and David Dugan

Argonon-owned UK production outfit Windfall Films has promoted three executives as part of a reorganisation of its senior management.

CEO David Dugan, co-founder of the factual specialist prodco, will take on the role of executive chairman.

Producer and company director Carlo Massarella will become CEO and executive producer, while Dan Kendall is stepping up to creative director. Allison Todd remains as MD.

The reshuffle comes as Windfall celebrates its 30th year in business.

Dugan has produced factual series including Channel 4’s Mutiny, Bafta-winning series Inside Nature’s Giants, Emmy-winning Your Inner Fish and Foxes Live: Wild in the City.

Most recently he was executive producer on two critically acclaimed Horizons films for the BBC: The Placebo Experiment and Body Clock – What Makes Us Tick?.

In his new role he will continue to guide the company’s growth and focus on flagship projects. He will remain as a director of Argonon Group.

Since joining Windfall in 1996, Massarella has devised and worked across a range of factual series and specials for UK, North American and international broadcasters, including the BBC, PBS, Discovery and National Geographic Channels.

These include BBC2 series The Fifteen Billion Pound Railway; PBS NOVA films Inside Chernobyl’s Mega Tomb and Eclipse Across America; and international series Railroad Alaska, Unearthed, Building Giants and My Floating Home.

As CEO, Massarella will continue to spearhead Windfall’s international partnerships and coproductions to help further expand its range of content.

Since joining Windfall as an exec producer in 2016, Kendall has helped create and produce returnable formats for US and international markets. In the UK, his current production slate includes shows for Channel 4 and BBC2.
