Wildbrain snaps up Sinking Ship series

Lockdown was conceived in response to the pandemic

WildBrain Television in Canada has picked up second-window rights to a new tween series from Toronto-based kids’ and family prodco Sinking Ship Entertainment.

Lockdown follows a group of teens who, seeking to alleviate boredom during coronavirus-related restrictions, team up online to solve a mystery involving one of their neighbours.

Created by JJ Johnson, the 10-part series is produced in partnership with YouTube Originals. It will launch on WildBrain Television’s Family Channel today with a four-episode event, followed by new episodes each Friday.

Lockdown is also available for free on the YouTube Originals for Kids & Family channel.

Nadine Zylstra, head of learning and family entertainment at YouTube Originals, said: “As one of the few scripted shows to address these unprecedented times for a young audience, Lockdown is designed to help kids make sense of current events, while also telling a story about young people coming together to support each other and their communities.”
