Wife Swap switches from CMT to Paramount

Paramount Network in the US will begin airing a local version of Banijay Rights’ long-running format Wife Swap next month.

The 10-episode series shifts homes from Viacom-owned CMT to sibling network Paramount Network, which was previously known as Spike prior to a rebrand.

The executive producers of the show include Banijay Studios North America’s David Goldberg, Caroline Baumgard, Ted Iredell, Perry Dance and John Platt.

The new season will begin airing on April 4 and will see spouses, regardless of gender, from two contrasting families swap places for a week.

The format is distributed by Banijay Rights and further adaptations are also in the works at Banijay-owned Screentime Australia and Banijay Finland. These versions air on Australia’s Seven Network and Finland’s AVA (MTV3) respectively.

Originally produced by RDF Television for the UK’s Channel 4, Wife Swap has now been adapted in more than 25 countries.

“Wife Swap is an iconic international hit that’s more relevant now than ever,” said Keith Cox, president of development for Paramount Network.

“There are plenty of fireworks in each episode that audiences expect, but they’ll also be surprised as they watch these families learn about new lifestyles and choices to find resolution.”
