WGN tracks down Disappearance

The Disappearance follows the hunt for a missing 10-year-old boy

Tribune Broadcasting-owned cable network WGN America has secured the US rights to a Canadian mystery series starring Peter Coyote from NBCUniversal.

The Disappearance is produced by Productions Casablanca in association with Bell Media and NBCUniversal International Studios and was created and written by Normand Daneau and Geneviève Simard.

The series is directed by Peter Stebbings while Joanne Forgues serves as producer and executive producer, alongside exec producers Sophie Parizeau and Jean-Marc Casanova. JoAnn Alfano and Kristen Del Pero exec produce for NBCUniversal International Studios.

The series centres on a boy who goes missing during a treasure hunt on his 10th birthday and follows the search that ensues. Camille Sullivan and Aden Young also star.

It is the newest addition to WGN America’s slate of crime-focused programming, which includes Bellevue, Shoot the Messenger, Pure and 100 Code.

In January, The Disappearance was acquired by Universal Channel in the UK.
