WeTV goes to the opera

US cablenet WeTV is developing a docuseries about a group of young, ambitious opera singers in New York City.

The channel is working with Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim Studios on Love and Opera (working title), which promises to give viewers a glimpse into the often cutthroat world of opera singing.

WeTV has previously worked with Pilgrim Studios on David Tutera’s Celebrations, the reality series that focuses on celebrity weddings.

“Opera is one of the few, if not the last, places unexplored by unscripted TV and this show challenges every conventional notion we have about it,” said WeTV president Marc Juris.
